We finally expanded!

Last Saturday Night in a flurry friends and a pony keg of Widmer Brothers W'07 Pale Ale we expanded into the space right next to our existing location. We now have three service benches, a little bit more retail space and some room to breathe. We will continue to use the older location for new bicycle storage and as an auxillary office.

We have been planning a change since the end of last season, but we  were finally able to move in last week.  The last few weeks prior to the move were difficult as we attempted to accommodate the community's needs in the cramped space.  Three mechanics in one workbench = bad.  Summer is nearly upon us and we really need the extra room.

Breezer ownership shift and pricing change

Joe Breeze and his wife Connie have recently taken over the decision making for Breezer Transportation bikes. After analyzing the model pricing for the year, Breezer has reduced the MSRP on most of their bicycles. In the shop, we have discounted our current Breezer pricing by $50 on in stock models through June 15th. Uptown8's in stock, MSRP $929.95 now down to $879.95. Villagers in stock, MSRP $799.95 down to $749.95. Freedom, MSRP $439.95 down to $389.95. Great deals on Breezer town bikes at Revolver.

Sale stuff and Spring Fever

Well it seems like everybody else is having a spring sale, why shouldn't we. We need to make some room, so we cut some prices around the store. We marked all of our in store clothing 30% off; this includes our instock Ibex Knickers and all gloves. We have several older model bicycles and trailers marked down and all in store Breezer town bikes are discounted $50. This weather has been fantastic, so our repair schedule is filling up. Stop by or visit to prepare your bike for the upcoming season.

Javelin bikes

Well it looks like we will be distributing Javelin bikes and frames fairly soon. I have been looking for more road options and they have a great line. It is crazy how small the world can be at times. The current CFO of Javelin used to ride on a cycling team I helped sponsor back in Arkansas. He came to the team as an accomplished swimmer and raced as a junior for the team. He moved up working in shops around Little Rock Arkansas and now works for Javelin and he lives in the Chicago area. We have a ti frame on order for one of the members of shop sponsored team, Existential Velo.

Superbowl Sunday ride

I got in a great road ride with Care Bear and Doodles this Sunday. The bear and I headed down the East Side Esplanade to Sellwood, picked up Doodles, wound out the Springwater to Boring, up 242nd to Marine Drive and then back into NoPo. Beautiful weather and lots of coffee stops made a great day.

Closed for the Holiday

Revolver will be closed from December 24th, 2006 through January 1st, 2007 for the holidays. We will be back in the shop on the 2nd at 11am.

Its wet

Many folks have been stopping in for fenders and lights this past few weeks. Cool fixie and single speed projects have come through the shop recently as well. We have continued to chug along with a lot of wheel building and service work in the back. We had some time to lace up a few straggler hubs and rims from the summer. Lots of great hand built fixie and single speed wheelsets hanging around. We just got our preseason shipment of Bell & Giro helmets, a bunch of Easton parts, a few Blackburn trainers and a bunch of Blackburn accessories. We have been shuffling things around to fit it all in.

Welcome to the Revolver Bikes Weblog?

New Website

First of all you might have noticed that our website finally up and running! It has been almost a year since we opened the doors and it has been very exciting! I was so busy in the season that I left the website project till the fall. With a lot of help from Lev at Level Online Strategy we finally launched and I should be able to improve it as time permits.

I hope to use this blog to let you know about new products and services that we bring in as the shop develops.

What have we been up to this past year?

I first dealt with the organizational aspects of getting the shop off the ground. Where to locate? How large a space? What will we start selling? Who will we get it from? Where will I bank? How much work can I personally accomplish in a given time period? Can I hire anybody to help me? I had always inherited these answers when working in previous shops. I also had other questions that could only be answered through time. How will it work in this part of town? Will my plan even get close to my expectations? Am I as crazy as my industry insider pals said I was? (Even more than they could possibly imagine).
